Regardless of specialisation, career stage or sector — anthropologists, sociologists, political scientists, social psychologists, social workers, administrators, humanities professionals and practitioners from related disciplines.

Categories

Six ways to belong

Four categories form a progression in standing, from Ordinary Member to the Network’s highest honour. Two more are routes in rather than rungs on the ladder.

Ordinary Member

Voting rights

Holds relevant academic or professional qualifications in social sciences or a relevant field; or has a career interest in infrastructure development; or is actively engaged in infrastructure consultancy; or has been active in NISSU for at least two years and has had basic training in infrastructure social sciences.

Associate Member

A social scientist with relevant qualifications who has been engaged in infrastructure consultancy for up to five years, has been active in NISSU for five years or more, and has had significant training in infrastructure social sciences.

Fellow

By nomination

Recognised as having made a truly significant contribution to the Network’s vision and mission. Nominated by other members in a formal setting and managed by the NISSU Fellowship Committee. Reserved for full members, and expected to have served as a change agent and social entrepreneur.

Honorary Fellow

Highest honour

Recognised for outstanding service to the aims of the Network — the highest honour NISSU can bestow. Chosen by the Board of Directors and Advisory Board on the request of Senior Management.

Corporate or Group Membership

For groups of five or more named members applying as a group or institution. Carries a discount on the individual fee, and the same rights as individual Ordinary Members in meetings. Approved by the Executive Director with senior management.

Member Emeritus

Accorded to retired members of the Board of Directors, founders, and the Executive Advisory Board.

Complete registration

Provide the required membership information and complete the registration process.

Pay your fees

A one-off registration fee, followed by an annual subscription that keeps your membership active.

Become a member

Once registration and payment are confirmed you can take part in NISSU activities and access member benefits.
