Professional GROWTH

Overview

NISSU provides opportunity for professional development to its members. Under NISSU, professional development is stipulatively defined as changes in professional knowledge, skills, action, attitudes, and beliefs for improved practice. In other words, NISSU’s approach is to improve your knowing, thinking, doing, and feeling closely associated with cognitive, intellectual, attitude, and behavioural elements. Therefore, NISSU’s approach enables the mentee to learn, develop, and apply new knowledge and skills in their relevant field. The ultimate Professional Development is expanded knowledge base, confidence and credibility, which increases job opportunities and income, staying up-to-date on current trends and opening the door for future career changes.

NISSU offers the professional development programme based on a scientific approach. The professional development program takes a systematic but iterative approach, involving eight steps.

  1. Evaluation of your current professional interest, knowledge, skills and gaps in relation to your career goals – where are you in your career?
  2.  Examination of your long-term and short-term professional goals and outcomes – where do you want to go?
  3. Examination of the constraints that affect career development – what success barriers?
  4. Determining the strategies that will elevate your profession development – how do you intend to reach there?
  5. Proposing indicators to measure the success of your career development – what are the makers to help you gauge that you are achieving your career goals?
  6. Gaining access to professional development
  7. Engaging in reactive learning through doing consultancies or practical work
  8. Sharing the knowledge with others mentee
