Specific Objectives and Activities

The operation of NISSU is guided by six (6) specific objectives, which are broken down into 18 operational objectives.

Objectives: To provide opportunities for professional networking among practicing infrastructure social scientists and with other professional networks

To facilitate access to external opportunities and sources of livelihood

  • Connecting and seconding members to consultancy projects and jobs
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to producing quality deliverables and services
  • Facilitating access to post-graduate training opportunities in relevant or preferred field
To institutionalize professional ethics and values in performing professional work under a given settings

Intervention Activities

  • Establishing and enforcing a code of conduct for NISSU members
  • Establishing guidelines and methodology for executing action and applied research
To facilitate visibility, branding, and marketing of professional members

Intervention Activities

  • Maintaining online visibility through professional website, social media channels
  • Demonstrating expertise through membership database, and word of mouth referral 
  • Participating in high visibility projects, events, meeting and community actions
  • Building connections outside NISSU 
To advocating for the rights and entitlements for the professional members and project beneficiaries

Intervention Activities

  • Getting interested in concerns, grievances, issues, and complaints of the project affected people  regarding the planning, construction and operation of infrastructure projects
  • Advocate for fair and transparent treatment of NISSU members in workplaces
